Ms. Aoi (School Manager)

Ms. Aoi Hello Everyone! I'm Aoi Sakurai.
After working as a flight attendant for 10 years, I became a stay-at-home mother for about 6 years. Then I taught English classes to students of various ages, from kindergarteners to middle school children. I really enjoy teaching English because it is a beautiful language to speak and listen to.
Many parents worry, "Can young children who come from a Japanese-speaking household switch to an English environment?" Children are very flexible and can easily adapt to an environment where they speak only Japanese at home, but only English at school.
I think inevitably, most companies will require employees to speak English at work, so it is a great advantage for children to learn English from such a young age. It is said that the critical age for children to acquire language skills is 7 years old or younger, so I believe it is wonderful for children to begin their English learning as early as possible.

Mr. Anand (Head Teacher)

Mr. Anand Hi there, I'm Anand!
I am from Toronto, Canada. I'm into running, swimming, cycling or anything that get the body working. I'm always making jokes and being silly because I love making people laugh and smile.
I moved to Japan five years ago. I love Japanese people, Japanese culture and the Japanese language. Before coming to Sunrise, I taught English for five years to elementary school and junior high school students in Chiba prefecture. I've always loved teaching kids because of their energy and willingness to try what they learn. Their laughter and smiles always make my day. But watching a young child use the English I have taught them is the best feeling of all.
Being a native English speaker has allowed me to share stories with people from all over the world. Kids who grow up with love and knowledge of English will have the world as their playground! They will have people from around the world as their playmates! Let's use English and have lots of fun together! Return to top

Mr. Vincenzo

Mr. Vincenzo Hello! My name is Vincenzo, please call me Mr Vinnie!
I'm Italian but I've been living in many different countries: I spent most of my childhood in Wales and England, I studied in Italy, Wales, England and Switzerland and I worked in Italy, Wales, France, Spain, Burundi and Holland.
I love soccer and 70`s rock music. My hobbies are cooking, travelling and film making.
I graduated from Bologna University with a degree in International development and cooperation, then I realized that I love teaching children when I was in Africa, working for an International NGO. There I had the chance to teach math, history, English and French in an elementary school as a volunteer. That experience definitely changed my life!
I moved to Japan in 2012, since that time I've been teaching English in Tokyo and now I'm so happy and proud to be a Sunrise Kids teacher! Return to top

Mr. Steven

Mr. Steven Hello, everyone! I'm Mr. Steven, it's a pleasure to meet you!
I am from a small town in England called Dover. I live a very active and fun life. For starters, I work at Sunrise Kids! It's one of the most fun parts of my life. I enjoy a wide variety of sports like, running, calisthenics and football (soccer). Some of my favourite places to go, in Japan, are the free-to-use athletic parks with exercise equipment and running tracks, particularly Sagamisansen park, in Ebina.
Other than sports, I thoroughly enjoy embracing the Japanese culture by attending festivals in traditional, Japanese clothes like, jinbei or yukatta and praying at shrines and temples.
As for teaching, I truly believe that the children are the future, and with the rapid growth of English being used all around the world, for non-English speakers to learn English will greatly increase their prospects and also expose them to another culture to develop them and prepare them for the smaller world that we now inhabit.
So I am very privileged to have the opportunity to teach all the kids at Sunrise! Let's have fun! Return to top

Mr. Martin

Mr. Martin Hello everyone! My name is Mr. Martin. It's wonderful to meet you all!

I'm from the Great Southern Land ? Australia! The land of Kangaroos, Koalas, Crocodiles and the Great Barrier Reef. Before joining Sunrise Kids, I worked as a novelist, film and television writer, and I have a Bachelor of Creative Industries in Drama and Master of Arts in Literature. As well as loving Drama and storytelling, I also love long-distance running and Rugby Union (go the Wallabies!) and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work at Sunrise Kids. In an increasingly globalized world, I firmly believe that it is the bilingual citizens of the world, those who can communicate across cultures and languages, that become will some of the most valued members of our society. By working (and having fun!) at Sunrise Kids, I hope I can help all our wonderful students achieve this! Return to top

Mr. Justin

Mr. Justin I am from Kentucky, which is in the United States. I love playing video games and watching comedy movies. My favorite hobby is making video games at home. Before I moved to Japan, I lived in Honolulu, Hawaii where I went to college at Hawaii Pacific University and studied computer programming. Afterwards, I moved to Japan and started teaching English, science and math to students. I love teaching and seeing students use what I taught them in class. Working at Sunrise Kids is always fun and seeing the children laugh while learning is always the best! Return to top

Ms. Manami (Head of Childcare)

Ms. Manami Hello! My name is Manami!
I am a very active person. I love dancing, playing tag, snowboarding and anything that's fun and exercise at the same time. I recently started skateboarding too.
I also enjoy playing piano.
I absolutely love children. I have a lot of fun playing with them, especially rhythmic activities. The smiles on children's faces makes me happy. Their pure hearts and the sparkle of excitement in their eyes inspires me. Every moment in a child's life is important and I hope to make an impact in their lives.
I had an opportunity to train at a preschool in America, taking care of babies, toddlers and handicapped children. It was a learning experience for me.
My dream is to make friends from all over the world. We are all born on the same world, but most of us know so little about it. I want to know about other cultures and histories and I look forward to sharing the same international mindedness with all of the children at Sunrise. I want them to be prepared for the challenges the future will throw at them. I want their curiosity to develop into a love of learning. I want to embark on this journey of discovery and help lead the kids into a bright world.

Ms. Satomi (Head of Childcare)

Ms. Satomi Hi there! My name is Satomi Suzuki.
I`m super happy that I can work at an international school.
I`ve been improving my English since junior high because I like to know many things about the entire world.
I like outdoor sports and usually enjoy in hiking the mountains, camping, and cycling. I also played volleyball for 10 years, starting in elementary school.
I worked at a daycare center for over 4 years then I moved to the US to be an Au pair (a Nanny living with host family). I took care of triplet boys while staying with an awesome American family for 2 years in New Jersey.
I learned how to give discipline to kids in various ways and a whole lot more about child care. Also, I was able to experience authentic Western events like Christmas, Easter and so on. And most importantly, I made friends from all over the world!!
It`s not too much to say that child care is very important in my life. It makes my life feel worthwhile, and I can grow as a teacher along with the kids.
I want kids to be interested in life and events from all over the world through learning and communicating in English. And, of course, I want to share big smiles and exciting times here at Sunrise Kids!!

Ms. Naga

Ms. Naga Hello everyone! My name is Manami Nagakubo.
I'm a person who loves a new challenge, so I have tried out many different things. For example, I love sports and outdoor activities like running, soccer, handball, camping, hiking, and surfing. I also like playing music on the guitar and drums. And of course, I love English!
A few years ago, I heard about the Au Pair program where a person can work as a babysitter in the United States. I thought it was perfect for me because it was a chance to learn real English and take care of kids every day. And that was true! I had so much fun with two cute boys for couple of years in Hawaii. It made me happy and surprised every day seeing their growth and development.
After I came back to Japan, I decided to be an English teacher for children because I had learned how it is fun to work with them. I'm very glad I could join in a school where I can do just that. I know that I'm going to grow up with children, and hopefully children can grow up well with my care. Let's have lots of fun at Sunrise! Return to top

Ms. Yuki

Ms. Yuki Hello!!
My name is Yuki Okawara. I am from Iwate, but I grew up in Yamagata. I initially became interested in foreign countries after seeing Daniel Kahl, the television personality, speak in the Tohoku dialect. I felt closer to him since he speaks the Yamagata dialect, and it made me want to learn more about the world. During university, I majored in International Relations and had the experience of studying abroad in the state of Washington in America. While staying in Washington, I had the chance to observe local preschools and childcare facilities. The school highly cherished the kid's feelings which impressed me very much. After I graduated from university in Japan, I worked at a trading company for a year, but I couldn't forget my experiences from when I was in the U.S. I decided to be a preschool teacher because I wanted to work with children. I got my teaching license for preschool and kindergarten through studying at night school while working at a preschool during the day. I am very happy that I can work in such a wonderful environment which has kids and English. My hobby is playing sports: karate, volleyball, and swimming. I also like to play the guitar and take photos. My desire is to connect closely with the students of Sunrise so that they will feel happy and proud to graduate from our school.

Ms. Moeko

Ms. Moeko
Hello, Nice to meet you.
My name is Moeko Kanemoto.
I started concentrating on learning English language when I studied abroad for a year in Canada. When I was a child, my parents usually traveled with me, but it was difficult to get use to the English language and foreign people. During my study abroad, I was speaking English on a daily basis. I think the best way to improve the English skill is to use English everyday.
At Sunrise, I hope the children will get familiar with the English language and foreign people from native speakers and to improve listening and speaking skills, but also enjoy speaking English.
I like playing tennis and watching movies during my free time.
I like exercising, so I want to enjoy doing the same with the children.

So I went to the preschool as a volunteer when I was at elementary school.
Then time passed, I was thinking what I really wanted to do.
Children's smile came into mind. That's why I decided to be a preschool teacher.
I want to expand my own potential and the nursery's.
I wish to improve my nursery skill and my English with the children at Sunrise. Nursery teacher registration: Tokyo-116458 Return to top

Ms. Harumi

Ms. Harumi Hi there! I’m Harumi from Saitama prefecture. Please call me Ms. Harumi.
I am really glad to work for Sunrise kids because I like both children and English.
Before I came here, I worked at an orphanage as a nanny for 7 years. Then I took care of children who were newborns to 3-years-old. I really liked that job, but I dreamed of living in a foreign country. So I decided to live in Canada.
I lived in the City of Vancouver for 2 years and learned English there.
On my first day at Sunrise, I was so surprised that the children spoke English very well.
It seemed like they enjoyed having conversations using English with teachers and friends. I’d like to enjoy speaking English with kids as well. Thank you.

Ms. Saki

Ms. Saki Hi,everyone.
I'm Saki.
I'm very glad that I can play, learn, and make a lot of memories with the kids at Sunrise.
The reason I started studying English is I thought
"It would be very cool if i could speak English fluently."
The more I study, the more I realize how pretty the sound of English is and the more I discover new expressions which only English has.
I went to England for the first time when I was a high school student and then I decided to go to Philippines
to do volunteer work.
By caring of orphans, I realized that I would like to work with kids who have very bright eyes and pure hearts.
After graduating university in Japan, I decided to go on to college in the US to study psychology.
I appreciate that I can work with kids, try new things and feel happy with them!
