Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year everyone!

2020 has been a tough year for everyone but 2021 is here to bring us new hope and new beginnings. Everyone in Sunrise Kids kicked off 2021 by doing different fun-filled activities!

Starting with the Caterpillars, Littles and Hungries got their hands dirty and sticky with paint and glue making their 2021 memory book!

The Shiny Butterflies had so much fun making their 2021 funky sunglasses! They had to do a lot of cutting and gluing too!

The Flutteries were also very busy writing what they did for their winter holiday and doing a lot of Eiken preparations!

And finally, everyone ended their first month of 2021 with a fun marathon! Here are some of the shots of their run!IMG_1147

We hope you enjoyed reading about our January! We hope to see you again next month with more fun filled activities!

See you later!

October – Happy Halloween!

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the monthly blog of October.

When we think of October, there’s only one event everyone is excited about! And of course, it’s Halloween!

It is the only month when you can see everywhere lots of jack-o-lanterns, spider webs and even monsters! The most special thing in Halloween is that everyone can wear any costumes and can become anything they want to be. It doesn’t need to be scary, you could even be a superhero!

Before the October ended, everyone celebrated Halloween and had a big party altogether. We all played and sang our favorite Halloween songs. And all the Caterpillars, Butterflies and, even the teachers, did a Halloween fashion show and had the chance to walk on the runway and do their scariest or cutest poses!

After the fashion show, we all went to the park and did trick or treating! Everyone was excited to go look for different monsters to get their treats! A lot of parents also joined the party and made all the kids very happy.

Everyone had a blast in the party and doing trick or treating!

I hope you and your family also had a fun and spooky Halloween! See you again next month!

June – Father’s Day

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the monthly blog of June.

June is a special month where we celebrate our dads through Father’s Day. This month, everyone in Sunrise made a special gift for our dads and talked about the things they do for us. We even sang a Father’s Day song, ‘I love him and he loves me too and daddy is his name, oh! D-A-D-D-Y.’ Everyone had lots of fun making crafts and singing for our dads!

The Caterpillars worked really hard to make tie crafts for their dads!

They were very colorful and cute!IMG_4431

The Shiny Butterflies made these big cards for theirs too!

They made colorful fingerprint ties and even drew their dads’ faces!

The Fluttery Butterflies made these amazing trophies for theirs for being the best dads ever!IMG_4582

Here in Sunrise, we would want to thank all the dads out there for always taking care of us and giving us the best love. I hope you enjoyed our crafts as much as everyone did doing them!

Have a nice day!

April – Easter Party

Hello everyone and welcome to the monthly blog for April!

April is a month in which many people celebrate Easter. A time when the Easter bunny brings chocolate eggs for everyone to search for and then eat! We continue the tradition here at Sunrise (minus the eating of chocolate eggs) and have lots of fun making baskets to hold our eggs!

We started making our Easter baskets!

Cutting, sticking and decorating!

Glue the sides together!

Adorn the basket with eggs and a handle!

Glue on some colorful lollipop sticks!

The Caterpillars made their baskets using two bowls!

They decorated with crayon and stickers!

Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop!

Let’s search for eggs!

I found so many eggs!

Where will the magic egg lead us?

What’s in this basket?

It was a sticky surprise!

The Easter Bunny brought us some bunny and egg stickers which we said a big thank you for! We hope everyone had fun and we look forward to a visit from the Easter Bunny again, next year. Take care everyone and keep hopping!

Hello and welcome to the final special lesson blog for this year – and Mr. Martin’s final blog as a Sunrise teacher!

Well, it being March there was only one thing that this blog could be about – graduation! The Fluttery Butterflies prepared well all through March towards their final, special day. They learned their speeches, the practiced the songs (in English and in Japanese!) and they learned where to stand and, most importantly, how to sit nicely! It was a wonderful day for everyone involved and all the Sunrise teachers would like to thank the parents who came along to make the day so special.

We’d also like to give a special big thank you to the parents for the events they planned after the official graduation ceremony. The quiz, songs, and improvised dancing (thank you Ishin!) was lots and lots of fun.

And from me, Mr Martin, I would like to thank the parents, teachers and of course Sunrise Kids who made the last three years so memorable. I wish you all the best for the future.

During the month of November Americans celebrate how the English travelled to America and encountered strife before being rescued by the native Indians and subsequently taking the land for themselves. This is the holiday of Thanksgiving. We decided to celebrate this holiday too in which families gather together and have a big feast as a reminder for what the native Indians gifted their ancestors.

Cutting and sticking, but what are they making?

A black hat and an orange mouth, what could it be?

It’s a kid, wearing a turkey, wearing a pilgrim hat!

A colour by number turkey. That looks like fun!

Hello and welcome to this week’s monthly special lesson blog!

Well, there could only be one thing this month is about – Halloween! On Thursday this week Sunrise had our scary, scary Halloween party! Everyone dressed up in their wonderful costumes and had a wonderful fashion parade. Then we went down to Okano park where, helped by some wonderfully kind parents, we had a fantastic stamp rally. There, the Sunrise kids also got some delicious treats and fun toys to play with.

All-in-all it was a brilliant day for everyone. We especially would like to thank the parents and friends who helped us out on the big day. Your help is truly appreciated!
