Thanksgiving Party!

Hello and welcome to this month’s special lesson!

November has finally come to an end and now Christmas is right around the corner. Although November has finished, we still have some amazing memories from this month, especially our amazing Thanksgiving Party!

For those of you, who are not familiar with Thanksgiving Day, it is a special holiday in the United States of America, where we gather together with all our friends and family, join together for a huge feast, and give thanks for all the good things we have in our life. This tradition stems all the way back, when pilgrims from Europe came to North America, and were saved by the Native Americans, by helping the pilgrims survive the harsh winter. Afterwards, the pilgrims and Native Americans gathered together with their friends and family, and had a large feast together, using all the different foods they grew as well as any fish or meat they caught. The reason they had this feast was to “Give Thanks” for helping each other and was celebrated each year, usually before Winter, where food was harvested/hunted, and became the holiday Thanksgiving.

We carry on this tradition each year now, as Thanksgiving Day. Since the students are thankful for so many things, we decided to have our own Thanksgiving party here in Japan, so the students can talk about what they are thankful for, as well as have a nice meal together with friends.
